Barriers To Executing Strategy

In their "Leaders Talk About Executing Strategy" research report, the Ann Arbor-based market research firm eePulse shows the top three barriers to executing strategy include:

  1. The company’s past and habits (with 35% of respondents thinking their past and habits will likely derail strategy.)
  2. Financial factors, with both budget and economic climate being mentioned by 29% of the respondents.
  3. Company culure and the way employees work together (two variables that are functions of the company’s habits and past.)
BOTTOM LINE: The only factor to really deter strategy is the people in the company; if they are holding on to old habits, then the organization cannot succeed.

Six Disciplines enables new habits to be learned for organizational change and strategy execution.
